366 in 52 [2016] ~ Week Eighteen

A busy weekend, a tough couple of days for Anna, and Dominic is sick again… in other words, normal!

Day 120 ~ White Prickly Poppy

Mom and I have seen these beautiful, tall, white, tissue-paper-like flowers by the side of the road, so I finally stopped and took a photo. After searching online, I discovered these are called White Prickly Poppies. They are so delicate!

Day 121 ~ Juried Art Show

I adore Amanda Smith, owner and curator of the A Smith Gallery in Johnson City. I have been fortunate enough to be chosen for two juried art shows in her space with Red being the most recent. Mom, Curtis, the kids, and even Jenny came from Hutto (!!!) to attend the Artist’s Reception with me. What an honor!

Day 121 ~ On the Invitation!

After I finished talking about my image, Amanda said that she liked my image so much that she put it on the invitation! I was so excited! Very cool.

Day 121 ~ Texas Sunset

We had dinner in Johnson City at the Pecan Street Brewing. The food was delicious!!! After dinner, we slowly wandered back to the car. I saw this Texas flag with the sun setting behind it and I tried to capture how quintessentially small Texas town this represents.

Day 121 ~ First Day with His Guitar

Earlier in the day, Dominic spent his allowance on a guitar. He’s been wanting one for ages and even wants to take lessons. Before we got back in to the car to head home, he asked if he could play a little.

Day 122 ~ Mushroom Suspended

One of my favorite things to do is wander in my backyard with my macro. I found a tiny mushroom that had been uprooted so I played around with angles, perspectives, and light until I found a composition that was pleasing to me.

Day 122 ~ Mushroom Fringe

I found this small mushroom still in the ground and I like how the edge looks like fringe. Reminds me of how the Brits call bangs fringe. Love that.

Day 122 ~ Nature’s Umbrella

I’m always imagining little creatures taking shelter under mushrooms using them like umbrellas. I’m dorky like that.

Day 122 ~ Fairy Snail

I had found a snail shell and wasn’t sure if anything was inside, so I set it down on this little fairy scene that accompanied a flower arrangement from last year. Lo and behold, a snail emerged. So cute!

Day 122 ~ Water Skating

The pool was so pretty and blue that I sat on the side gazing at the water for a while. I noticed some water bugs skating across the surface, so I tried to capture one. They are deceivingly hard to photograph!

Day 123 ~ Non Traditional Peacock

WIP: from the postcard set, Pretty Pattern Postcards illustrated by Beth Gunnell, edited by Bryony Jones, and designed by Jack Clucas. Used Faber-Castell Polys, Prismas, and Reeves. Inspired to use nontraditional colors from a Facebook coloring group.

Day 124 ~ Not Happy

Sometimes on the way home from school, Anna just randomly snaps into anger. I don’t know what triggers it or why she’s so upset, but by the time we get home, she’s almost raging. Monday was like that. Just grumpy for no reason.

Day 124 ~ Steamy

I finally got Anna in the shower before bedtime and she was in there a long time talking to herself. I still help her with shampooing her hair and she let me know she was almost ready. When I opened the shower stall door, buckets of steam came pouring out. With the sun setting behind the glass bricks, the light and steam combined to make a really pretty scene. I asked Anna’s permission to take and share this photo. <3

Day 125 ~ Wimberley Honeysuckle

Yesterday, mom and I went out to lunch in Wimberley with Sherry, a wonderfully sweet neighbor. We had a great time! After lunch we strolled down the main row of shops and we all caught a whiff of the most divine scent… this giant honeysuckle bush. I swear it’s the biggest honeysuckle bush I’ve ever seen!

Day 126 ~ Morning Bath

Right after Anna leaves for school in the morning and I go in to make the kids’ beds, Cooper likes to take a bath. He’s so cute hanging out in his bird bath getting water everywhere!

Day 126 ~ Another Sick Day

Dominic came home with a sore throat yesterday and woke up with a fever this morning. Flu B is going around, and I pray that he doesn’t have that, but it’s been about six weeks since his last illness so I’m thinking it’s his PFAPA Syndrome rearing its ugly head again. Sigh. I thought he had outgrown this.

Thanks for looking! Wash your hands everyone and stay home if you are sick. <3
