365 in 52 [2013] ~ Week Forty-Three

Overall it was a great week! Though Anna ended up getting Dominic’s virus and was home from school Friday through Monday, but I think it was much milder than it could’ve been because of Nurse Nana. Saturday I was surprised with a $200 gift card to Macy’s from Tom and Ally as a thank you for Morgan’s newborn images. Wow!!! I’ve never received such generosity before and was moved to tears. Saturday evening Curtis and I went to Johnson City to see my image hanging in the Shadows Exhibition. It was a very good day.

Day 295 ~ Tula the Therapy Hedgehog

Tuesday Anna started behavioral therapy with Christina Rogers. One of Chris’s therapy aides is her adorable hedgehog, Tula. Anna was a bit nervous to hold her, but I tried… Tula was so prickly! Jenny has wanted a hedgehog for years so I had to take this photo for her.

Day 296 ~ Painted Rose

A very neglected rosebush grows in the side yard and yields these tiny pink tea roses. I had a day to myself on Wednesday so I played with the oil paint filter in Photoshop. I think the result really does look like a painting!

Day 297 ~ Space Derby Painting

Dominic made his own rocket for the Boy Scout space derby (with only a little help!). Here he is spray painting his rocket blue… and I love how the blue sky behind him pulls the color through the whole image.

Day 298 ~ Spider Guy, Scorpion

We took Dominic and his friend, Nik, to see The Spider Guy, David Moellendorf, at the Wells Branch Library Saturday morning after the Space Derby. This scorpion was one of the first specimens he brought out. Wow! I love that I captured another lady taking a photo with her iPhone.

Day 298 ~ First Show

I was completely honored to have my image, Shoulder, accepted to the Shadows juried show at the A. Smith Gallery. Saturday night was the reception and hearing Tami Bone, the juror, speak was so very interesting. I loved seeing my art framed and hanging on the wall! Thank you, Curtis, for getting this picture of me. 🙂
