Goodbye 2012…

2012 was a hard year for me personally. A clinical depression, a second knee surgery on my right knee that had complications, my heaviest weight ever, struggling with being in business, a professional rejection that hurt more than it should… looking back, 2012 was a tough one. The kids had some serious challenges as well and Curtis had emergency gall bladder surgery. I really do try to remain optimistic and focus on the positive… but it’s also wise to acknowledge the hard times. It helps me appreciate the good times that much more. As I head into 2013, I’ve never felt more optimistic. I started back with Weight Watchers just before Halloween and I’m already down 18 pounds. The synovectomy on my right knee worked and it’s no longer swelling continually, so I’m able to exercise without knee pain. I’m not having to watch it balloon and it’s really nice not having to go to the ortho every month to get 40+cc drained.  The kids are stable, Curtis and I are really connected, Jenny is taking college life by storm, and I’m still besties with my mom. Life is good.

I’ve also committed to shooting for myself more. Curtis and I went out last night (thanks to my mom for keeping the kids!!!) to celebrate the New Year. We went to the Cheesecake Factory, ate no cheesecake and stayed on plan, then went to a friend’s house for a party. As we walked back into the parking garage after dinner, I found this scene… this composition spoke to me. Dark, broody, groupings of threes, pop of yellow… YES.

Goodbye 2012.
