March Self-Portrait

Clickin Moms is challenging everyone to do 12 self-portraits in 2012, one for each month. (Here are my January and February images if you care to look again.) For March, I wanted to wait until late in the month because I started a workshop this week through Clickin Moms called Shooting 301: Composition and Creativity taught by the amazing Sarah Wilkerson. I’ve actually shot several self-portraits this week, but my favorite is too personal and raw to share just yet. Instead, I got this image yesterday outside… I love spring. It brings hope and renewal.

It’s really hard to take a self-portrait outside when there are people walking around… so embarrassing! The time of day wasn’t ideal either, it was about 1 p.m., but the day was overcast. I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to share my workshop photos or keep them to myself. It’s a very personal journey and such a huge turning point in my growth that I need to absorb what I’m learning. Probably when the workshop has concluded, I’ll go through and share a few favorites and some insights on what I’ve learned. See you next month with another selfie! Thanks for looking. 🙂

  • Lauren - Oh, Holly. Thank you so much for sharing this with us. Brave woman. You are well within your rights to withhold (although, like everyone, I’d love to see what you loved about the other portraits!), but I’m so glad you found one that made you comfortable enough to share. I have a remote (unopened) and a self-portrait project awaiting. I just need time and will, I suppose. And a good old-fashioned dose of bravery. It’s been a rough winter here (death of a thousand papercuts!), and I’m not feeling brave enough to tackle looking at myself just yet! Thank you for showing me this brave side of yourself. You’re inspiring to me, dear.

And I love the look on your face…with the gorgeous hints of spring in the background!ReplyCancel
