Project 52 [Twenty-Twelve]: Week 7 ~ Hope Springs Eternal

There is something magical about a spring rain. It washes away the winter doldrums, brings life to fledgling blossoms, and renews a sense of hope for the future. I know I haven’t updated my blog in quite a while other than these P52 posts and I owe a long update about Dominic. (By the way, the My Four Hens P52 theme this week is wildcard which means we chose what we like.) We’ve been feeling our way out of the dark end of the tunnel for the last few weeks. Dominic has been experiencing some pretty significant behavioral problems that have required many phone calls, emails, and the involvement of mental health professionals. But hope springs eternal.

Hope springs eternal in the human breast;
Man never Is, but always To be blest:
The soul, uneasy and confin’d from home,
Rests and expatiates in a life to come.
Alexander PopeAn Essay on Man

Dominic saw the psychiatrist this week and started on Strattera.  I promise I will write an update this weekend about his evaluations and his treatment plan. I hope it helps another parent who has a child with ADHD to hear our experience. Thank you for the text messages, emails, and phone calls of support… you have no idea how much it has helped. I think I’m seeing that elusive sliver of light at the end of the tunnel up ahead.
