I got to photograph the sweetest little newborn baby boy last week. His name is Carter. This was my first time traveling to a client’s home and I couldn’t have been more delighted to meet mom and dad. They were so young, sweet, and welcoming. Even though mom had given birth just one week prior, she had hardly any tummy from her pregnancy. She wanted a mixture of lifestyle photos and posed newborn shots, so we had a lot of fun!
There is nothing more beautiful than a nursing mother. <3

I wonder what he was dreaming about? I had to get a photo of the umbilical stump… in no time at all, it falls off and you forget how new and tiny they are.
Mom helped me with this pose by holding the top of his head for a shot, then held his chin for the second shot. The result is a composite created in Photoshop. Baby’s safety comes first!

Right before I left, I put my macro lens to get a couple of detail shots. I love the wrinkles of a newborn’s hand.
Carter was so tiny nestled on mommy… one day she will look back at this and remember his baby smell and warmth.
