Project 52, week 35

I had an Artist’s Date with myself this week. I’m going through a rough patch in my marriage and needed some space where I could get lost in what I love for a while. So on Wednesday morning, I loaded myself up with my camera and 60mm macro lens, a bottle of water, a monopod, and a small white umbrella for diffusing light… and struck out at 11 a.m. for 2 hours of pure (and very hot) bliss at the LBJ Wildflower Center. I will be blogging my favorite 25-30 photos of the 200 I took while I was there and will also explain what an Artist’s Date is a bit later today or tomorrow. But I choose one of my favorites to share for my P52 photo.

This is a crop of a dragonfly I captured. I swear this little guy knew my intentions and held so very still for me for the longest time. In fact, my first set of photos were exposed a little too bright for my taste and he flew off, then resettled down on the same branch in a slightly different position. As I was finishing up my series of photos, he looked up at me. This is the result.

Thanks for looking.
